Welcome to the CS305 at PSU

I recommend that students read their drafts to themselves to improve their prose and help feel out their writing. Here are four levels of this (in terms of damage to your ego):

  1. Easy: read your draft
  2. Normal: read your draft aloud to yourself in an empty room.
  3. Hard: read your draft aloud to another person. Watch their face for confusion.
  4. Nightmare: find a person that hasn’t read your draft before. Hand it to them and have them read it aloud to you. Watch your own face for confusion.

The higher the level, the more effective it is in getting you to see quirks in your writing as well as a sense of clarity, presentation, and organization.
