Overview

This assignment is a chance for you to research an ethical, legal, or social issue in computing that interests you and a partner. Your team will find a case or situation involving an ethical, legal, or social issue or dilemma as it relates to computing, conduct research and present your analysis to the class.

Learning Objectives

Selection of Issue

Teams are to select an issue to research and present analysis of. You should try to focus on a particular situation, within a broader issue. Suppose your team wishes to research data privacy issues. Then pick a particular circumstance (say, Google's attempt to hide Google+'s data breach from law makers last Fall) research and analyze. The broad issue is much to large to tackle in a 15 minute presentation.

Presentation

Your team's presentation should be no longer than 20 minutes and should allow for a short QA or class discussion session. Each member of the team must be present and speak during the presentation.

You should at cover the following points:

You and your partner (or solo if you wish) should let me know as early as possible when and on what topic you'd like to present. I will do my best to fit each group to the course schedule.

Reminder: You probably shouldn't read directly from note cards or the screen. It's good practice to become expert enough at a topic to give a talk on it without just reading about it to an audience.
